Henry 287 Solarflex Acrylic Coating System:
Henry coatings protect your roof from the deterioration caused by the sun’s heat and UV radiation—heat absorption, asphalt breakdown, and thermal shock from heating/cooling cycles. Henry Cool Roof coatings provide a highly reflective, seamless solar barrier, protecting your roof against the corrosive elements that lead to moisture penetration and damaging leaks. If left unattended for too long, roof deterioration will exceed the limits of normal maintenance, and lead to a costly roof replacement. Our products can reduce your building maintenance expenses, lower your HVAC energy consumption, and save money on utility bills. You may even qualify for a rebate from your utility company, or from government-sponsored energy rebate programs, which are offered in some areas of the country and reduce your tax burden with a tax-deductible maintenance expense.
5 gallon pails and 55 gallon drums are available. Each 5 gallon pail will cover approximately 500 square feet of finished roof, and must be applied according to manufacturer specifications to be considered under the product warranty. Coverage can depend in part on your application techniques, weather conditions, as well as, your roof condition.

General Conditions
This specification is valid for reroofing over most existing sound roofs, whether painted or unpainted, including materials such as metal, wood, concrete, EPDM and masonry.
Priming Requirements
All bare non ferrous metal must be primed with roof primers as required. If rust is present, RUST STOP must be used. Painted metal surfaces need to be primed with EPOXY COAT after proper preparation. All other surfaces, whether wood, concrete, EPDM, or other material must be properly cleaned and prepared, most commonly with a high pressure water wash. Priming is most commonly not required on these surfaces.
Application Method Preparation
All metal surfaces are to be power washed as required, then let to dry. All rusted areas primed with RUST STOP, then apply appropriate primers for metal type. Weakened or deteriorated metal must be replaced. Replace missing fasteners, tighten all loose fasteners. Apply caulk to fasteners for proper seal. Other surfaces need to be prepared in a like manner if applicable.
For a 10 year expected roof life, use polyester felt as an interply membrane between 2 15 mil coatings on flat or smooth roof areas. On metal roofs, and roofs with irregular surface surfaces, apply a 6" strip of Polyester felt at all joint or lap areas by applying a coating of Acrylic coating and then imbedding the felt in the coating while still wet. Apply finish coat after this base coat has reached a cure.
The normal application technique is by spray, though standard regular nap paint rollers may be used. Spray equipment used can be either airless or conventional spray equipment. Standard Airless Spray equipment minimums are: Pump Ratio - 30:1, Tip Size - 0.020 to 0.030 inch, Fan Angle - 60% to 80%, Hose Diameter - 3/8 inch (high compression).
Application suggested method is to apply 2 coats of product, waiting at least 5 to 6 hours between coats, preferably waiting 24 hours between coats to assure a proper cure before applying the second coat. Each coat shall be about 15 mils thick.Using this method, normal coverage should be about 3.4 gallons per every 100 square feet. GREY color base coat can be used as the first interply base coat, with a WHITE finish coat.
Cleanup is suggested to be done as soon as application is complete, using clean water to clean sprayer and other application tools.
Appications Guidelines
1. DO NOT store material at temperatures below 45 degrees F.
2. DO NOT apply product when ambient air temperature drops below 50 degrees F. Temperature must remain above 50 degrees F for a least 12 hours after application of product.
3. DO NOT apply over wet substrates or when inclement weather is imminent.
4. As a characteristic of all acrylics, this system is not recommended for use over cold storage installations and roofing of areas with long term standing water.
